This was a great visit, and notice how Mr. Brian turns the logs to expose the clean face as he is cutting. Very cool technique that I don't see too many folks outside of Baker and Cooks utilize.

    I remember sawmill in Fulda, Ind. which was a small town about two blocks long. My Aunt lived there about midways in the town and it was just a sleepy little country town until someone got the bright idea to put the sawmill in behind my aunts house and her husband got a job back there. They would crank that diesel up and start cutting logs and you couldn’t hear yourself think. I think the blade was even bigger than that one. I haven’t seen logs that big since. The last time I went there the mill was gone thank God and it was more developed for families and sports.

    Nice machine, what is max diameter? 30 maybe 35? . I am retired from government service 10 years with the Air Force in 10 years with Merchant Marine Academy and that was 10 years ago last 5 years I lived in Bear Creek North Carolina I had 40 acres with tons of Hardwoods I used to have people knock on my door saying they wanted to take my trees but the offers were ridiculously low ended up selling the property and moved to Florida to run one of my brother's businesses. He's starting to retire and sell off a lot of businesses and just keep a couple of real estate companies and restaurants and one Resort he just finished building in Marathon Key. So I have a slight or go back to North Carolina and live the lifestyle that I loved out of my entire 55 years on this planet and that was hunting and fishing either stay here in Florida and continue running one of the companies which is not doing as well as it did 5 years ago, hunting deer in my backyard, catfish in my pond while I call it a pond at 1 acre almost like a lake got some big alligator snappers in their some bass and catfish. I let the two farmers on either side of me grow 10 acres each one grows feed corn the other grows hay, and my wife and I have a 1-acre garden with tomatoes and vegetables we sell from a roadside cart in front of the house. Between all of that and my retirement pay we lived very nicely I lived on Devil's tramping Ground Road go ahead and look it up it's a weird place LOL nice homes with big spreads loaded with trees lots of Oaks, Maples some Ash and Cherry there's also a Grove of walnut trees. On this particular property all the trees are very mature my plan would be to Harvest most of them and make more farmland for lease to the local farmers Holy cow I'm sorry this was supposed to be a comment and I'm telling you my life story I'm on a roll lol. Anyhow would I be better off harvesting the trees myself buying all the necessary equipment and then custom cutting everything and selling to the local lumber yards or should I have someone do all the tree cutting and stack the long logs next to a mill and that's what I'm asking you what size meal should I get I have a budget of about 75,000 for everything I could take a loan but would rather not thank you for any input

    With the CBN ( Borozon ) wheel, can you grind hard when you have rocked teeth?

  • @mattreed1026
    @mattreed1026 17 днів тому

    I use old worn-out 10" cupped wheels that were used in the Shake Bandsaw Grinders. Usually Armstrong #2 Grinders. They grind smooth, don't burn and hold their shape from the time I start using one till it's worn out. Radiac Brand by the way. Not sure of the Hardness of the wheel.

    So is there always a pretty large waste slab left at the bottom? Is there no good way to saw another board or two or three out of that bottom piece?

    • @TCSawmills
      @TCSawmills 22 дні тому

      We throw that up on the bandsaw afterwards. Oftentimes, if a log is too big, we will start on the slabber and then go to the bandsaws.

    Those compact wheel loaders are very good machines for material handling. The wheels are much better than a compact track loader (skid steer) when it comes to tearing up the ground.
